“Rana Sanaullah denies allegations of mistreatment during Imran Khan’s arrest”
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah denied reports of inflicting torture on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan during his arrest by Rangers personnel from Islamabad High Court (IHC). The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader explained that Imran Khan did not appear despite several notices, and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested him for causing damage to the national treasury.
He further stated that no torture was inflicted on Imran Khan during the arrest. Earlier, Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Ali Gohar, claimed that the Rangers personnel had “tortured” the party chairman during the arrest, alleging that Imran Khan was hit on the head and his injured leg. He further added that the Rangers personnel broke IHC’s main gate before ransacking the IHC office.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif pointed out that Imran Khan used NAB against others while he was in power, and people were arrested and tortured to satisfy his ego. He added that only the law would take its course now as it is not subject to anyone.
Imran Khan was arrested by Rangers personnel from Islamabad High Court (IHC) acting on NAB’s warrant. The PTI chairman was arrested as part of NAB’s investigation in the Al-Qadir Trust case ahead of his appearance before the IHC to seek bail in multiple FIRs registered against him. Rangers personnel drove a black Toyota Hilux Vigo and took Imran Khan to NAB Rawalpindi Pakistan.
