PTI makes new strategy to deal with political, legal crises

  • Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has tasked Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi to contact with the political parties, civil society and lawyers, and seek their help in these defining moments.

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vowed to speed up efforts and decided to seek help and support of political parties, civil society and the legal community to counter political, economic and legal crisis in the country.

The sources privy to the development said that Imran Khan in his important meeting with the party leaders chalked out a new strategy to deal with Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) –a 13-party alliance.

For this purpose, the PTI chief, tasked Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi to meet the political parties, which could extend support to PTI. Khan also asked Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi to meet the members of the civil society as well as the lawyers community and asked them to stand by the party during these times.

The development took place at the moment when the legal battle over delay in elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakthunkhwa entered into a decisive phase as a three-member bench of the top court gave another chance to both the government and the opposition to sit together and decide election date. The top court had also directed both sides to hold deliberations on the code of conduct of the election. The CJP warned that if they failed to do so then the judges would play their constitutional rule.

Talking to the reporters in Lahore on Saturday (today), PTI vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi confirmed the development that took place in the party meeting held on Friday evening.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that he and Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi were given the task to contact with the political parties to seek their help, meet the civil society members and ask the legal community for their support at this moment.

“I’m leaving to Islamabad to meet the leaders of Majlis-e-Wahdtul-Muslemeen (MWM) today,” said Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

He said he would also leave for Karachi by tomorrow to meet GDA and other political parties. Shah Mahmood Qureshi also revealed that the PTI was going to seek help of Jamat-e-Islami.
