PPP Nominated Awais Qadir Shah Sworn In As Sindh Assembly’s Speaker

In a recent secret balloting process, Awais Qadir Shah, nominated by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has secured victory as the new speaker of the Sindh Assembly with 111 votes. The rival candidate from MQM, Sofia Saeed Shah, received 36 votes in the polling.

Administering the oath in the Sindhi language, the outgoing speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraaj Durani, officiated the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected speaker, Awais Qadir Shah.

During his inaugural speech in the Sindh Assembly, Awais Qadir Shah expressed pride in assuming the role of Speaker, acknowledging the support of his family, friends, and constituents from Sukkur. He emphasized his commitment to adhering to the rules of the Sindh Assembly, pledging to start anew.

Speaking in Sindhi, Urdu, and English, the newly elected speaker vowed to uphold the rule book of the Sindh Assembly and assured all newly elected members that they would be given proper time for a ‘smooth’ session over the next five years.
