After the May 9 demonstrations, PM Shehbaz compares the PTI to the TTP.
ISLAMABAD: During a meeting on the country’s law and order situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif drew a parallel between the PTI and the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He stated that just as the TTP set fire to Jinnah House in Ziarat, the PTI had done the same to Jinnah House in Lahore, which now serves as the Core Commander’s residence.
The Prime Minister further pointed out that the TTP had attacked the General Headquarters (GHQ), and similarly, the PTI, whom he referred to as enemies of the state, had also targeted the GHQ. He recalled that during the riots on May 9, the Radio Pakistan office in Peshawar was also vandalized, and these incidents would have long-lasting psychological effects on the nation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that May 9 would be remembered as a “Black Day.” He attributed the acts of terrorism against the state to the orders of Imran Niazi, addressing the meeting on the law and order situation in the country.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focused on the overall law and order situation in the country, with particular emphasis on the violence that occurred on May 9 following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
