- May 25 is not a holiday, explains Marriyum Aurangzeb.
ISLAMABAD: The reports claiming that May 25, Pakistan Martyrs Day, would be a public holiday have been refuted by Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, who labeled them as fake. The Ministry of Information took to Twitter to share the notification issued earlier, emphasizing that spreading false news is not only unethical and illegal but also a disservice to the nation.
The Ministry clarified that the notification regarding the holiday on Martyrs Day is fabricated, dismissing the circulated information about the federal government declaring May 25 as a public holiday. Contrary to this, the Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF) confirmed that all schools would remain closed on May 25. However, the board exams will proceed according to schedule, and regular classes will resume on May 26 as planned.
Kashif Mirza, the President of APPSF, stated that summer vacations across the country will commence from June 15 to August 14, with schools reopening on August 15. He further mentioned that in the province of Sindh, summer vacations are set to begin from June 1 and conclude on July 31.
As conflicting information circulates regarding the public holiday on Pakistan Martyrs Day, it is essential for the public to rely on official announcements and refrain from spreading misleading news. The Ministry’s assertion to reject irresponsible behavior serves as a reminder for individuals to exercise caution and verify information from reliable sources.
