ISLAMABAD: The National Electronic Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday okayed increase in the price of electricity by Rs0.34 per unit due to monthly fuel adjustment.
The regulatory body said that the new tariff would be applied soon.
According to the details, the increase in the power tariff would be applicable to all consumers categories except lifeline consumers and KE users. The regulator said that the cost would be charged into May bills.
The development would cause more burden of Rs2.9 billion on the public who had been struggling even for two-time meal amid rising inflation and poor economy.
The sources said that the increase in the power tariff was made to the rising costs of electricity production and distribution.
There had been hours long power outages and load-shedding across the country. The citizens had been suffering from the load-shedding as their personal lives and businesses got affected.
The increase in the power tariff would cause more poverty as the expensive electricity would impact the prices of the daily used items.
