An investigation has been launched against Bahria Town for irregularities. It was reported that an investigation is also underway regarding Bahria Enclave land. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) had allocated this land for a zoo. The anti-corruption team raided the Bahria Town office to seize records.
Sources revealed that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raided the corporate office of Bahria Town in Rawalpindi, staying there for over two hours. During this time, the NAB team seized important records, including files of various private housing society projects and other documents.
The NAB team also recovered digital evidence and data from the computers. They were accompanied by Punjab Police and elite force personnel.
Sources said that NAB is also investigating the land of Bahria Enclave and will look into irregularities in the acquisition of all Bahria Town lands. It’s important to note that NAB has completed its investigation in the Al-Qadir Trust case, declaring Malik Riaz, the owner of the housing society, as an admiral in the reference.
Additionally, Bahria Town Karachi had occupied 3,031 acres of land more than what was agreed with the Supreme Court. This was revealed in a report submitted to the apex court by a 10-member survey team led by the Karachi commissioner. The Supreme Court resumed the hearing regarding the non-payment of Rs460 billion by Bahria Town.
According to the court’s decision, 16,896 acres of land were agreed upon for Bahria Town, Karachi. However, the report indicated that Bahria Town currently possesses 19,931 acres, which is 3,031 acres more than agreed. Of this excess land, 813 acres are in Malir district and 2,222 acres in Jamshoro.
