Jilted housemaid in Lahore commits suicide

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Lahore as a 22-year-old housemaid was discovered lifeless on Wednesday, with her family believing she took her own life.

The young woman, named Aqsa, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the Kahna locality of the city. The homeowner, Dr. Ali Raza, made the distressing discovery when he returned home. According to Raza, he had been away for a few hours and was met with the harrowing sight upon his return.

While the authorities are still conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, initial findings suggest it might have been a case of suicide.

A letter was uncovered at the scene, penned by Aqsa herself, shedding light on her emotional turmoil and feelings of betrayal by an unidentified person. The poignant letter offers a glimpse into her inner struggles.

Aqsa’s grieving family members have chosen not to pursue legal actions, as they are convinced that she had taken her own life due to the immense burden she was carrying. Their belief underscores the gravity of mental health challenges faced by individuals, particularly those working in vulnerable circumstances.

In light of the ongoing investigation, the police have committed to conducting an autopsy to gain a better understanding of the circumstances leading up to Aqsa’s tragic demise. Once the examination is complete, they intend to release her body to her family so they can proceed with the appropriate arrangements.
