Pakistan has experienced an escalation in terrorist attacks since the Afghan Taliban regained power in August 2021. The interim rulers of Pakistan have urged for strong actions against terrorists, particularly the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has been responsible for cross-border operations.
According to a recent data analysis by the independent think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), terrorist activities in Pakistan have surged by 79% in the first half of 2023. The report raises concerns as it reveals that there have been 271 insurgent attacks during the previous six months, resulting in the loss of 389 lives and injuring 656 individuals.
