Israeli forces attack Palestinian worshipers in Al-Aqsa Mosque

Israeli forces attacked the Palestinian worshipers in Al-Aqsa mosque and forcibly barred them from performing prayers at the holy site in occupied East Jerusalem on Tuesday night.

The Israeli forces launched operation at around 10:00 pm local time, used tear gas and stun grenades inside the mosque.

The reports suggested that the Israeli armed police officers entered the Qibli prayer hall—the building with the silver dome—and started torturing the men, women and the children. The footages of the attacks went viral on the social media.

The forces removed the worshippers from the holy site and subjected them to baton charge as they resisted to stay on the floor.

“We received multiple reports of injuries at Al-Aqsa Mosque but could not estimate the number of casualties as Israeli forces blocked the medics’ supply to the affectees,” said the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

After the assault, the hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets to condemn the Israeli attack and confronted its troops at the checkpoints and army posts. They also took out the rallies in Gaza, Umm al-Fahm. The rallies were also taken out in Amman—the Jordanian capital.

This is not the case of holy month of Ramadan this year as the Israeli forces forcibly carry out operation against the Palestinians to stop them from observing the holy month at the holy site.

The Palestinians face troubles every night during the holy month and experience huge difficulties while performing Nama-e-Isha and Taraweeh prayer. The Taraweeh prayer daily ends at around 9 pm local time, albeit without the violence.

The Israeli authorities restrict the worshipers and decide who can enter the premises of the mosque and who cannot –an act which the Palestinians believe is an attack on the freedom  of their religious practice.

Besides it, the Israeli authorities put ban on Itikaf at Al-Aqsa Mosque but the Palestinians do not accept it and show huge resistance.

It is also a routine practice that the Israeli forces use force to remove the Palestinians from performing prayers, especially overnight and after dawn prayer for the smooth invasion of the Israeli settlers which takes place at around 7:30 am on daily basis.
