Imran Khan Anti-Govt Protest to Peak on August 5

Imran Khan Anti-Govt Protest to Peak on August 5

RAWALPINDI: Despite spending two years behind bars, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan remains determined to steer his party’s political movement from his jail cell.

According to his sister Aleema Khan, the former prime minister wants the Imran Khan anti-govt protest to “hit peak” on August 5 — the day that will mark two years since his imprisonment.

Movement to Intensify After Muharram

Aleema Khan, while speaking to journalists after meeting Imran Khan at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, revealed that the jailed PTI leader instructed that the party’s anti-government campaign should begin after the 10th of Muharram.

“Muharram 10 has passed. Now the party will unveil its strategy,” she said, adding that the details would be shared with the media in due time.

Aleema confirmed that the entire Khan family would participate in the protests and hinted that those who cannot bear the burden of this political movement should step aside, as per Imran Khan’s message.

Protest Route to Be Decided

When asked about the protest route, Aleema remained tight-lipped but indicated that whether the demonstration starts from Peshawar and proceeds to Lahore would be finalised by PTI leadership soon.

She also revealed that Imran Khan told his family he feels more “free” in prison than some party leaders who are “imprisoned outside.”

Restrictions and Solitary Confinement

Aleema Khan and Khan’s other sister, Noreen Niazi, voiced concerns about the harsh conditions faced by the PTI founder in jail.

“He has not been allowed access to television, newspapers, or even reading material for the past week,” said Noreen.

They further alleged that both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are being kept in solitary confinement, and that Khan has not been allowed to see his personal doctor for the last 10 months.

Aleema accused Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of being behind these restrictive measures.

Gandapur to Lead Protest

PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will lead the anti-government protest, clarifying Gandapur’s earlier statement about carrying weapons was about self-defence.

Akram stressed that the party does not want its workers exposed to violence.

“When the first bullet was fired, the PTI founder won,” Akram remarked, reflecting the party’s resolve to keep the protest peaceful yet impactful.

He explained that protests were postponed earlier due to the Iran-Israel war and out of respect for Muharram, but now the movement will unfold in phases, starting from provinces and districts.

PTI’s Message: August 5 Will Be the Turning Point

As the party gears up to launch its next big push, the message from Imran Khan’s camp is clear: the Imran Khan anti-govt protest is set to reach its climax on August 5, a symbolic day for the jailed leader and his supporters.

Stay tuned on MEGANEWS.TV for updates as the party’s detailed protest plan is expected to be announced soon.
