IHC bars police from arresting Imran Khan in any case till May 17

ISLAMABAD: Another big relief for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) barred the police from arresting him in any case till May 17.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan of the IHC passed the order and directed the authorities concerned to ensure security of the PTI Chief, holding that he should not be arrested in any case registered after May 9.

“Till the next Wednesday, Imran Khan should not be arrested in any other new case,” ordered the IHC judge while announcing verdict on the plea of the PTI chairman.

Imran Khan, after securing bail in Al-Qadir Trust Case, stayed there inside the IHC premises to avoid arrest in another cases registered against him after May 9. He, through his counsel, filed bail plea against his arrest in all other cases registered against him after the paramilitary force arrested him on the orders of the National Accountability Bureau in Al-Qadir Trust Case.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, however, reacted to the decision, saying that Imran Khan would be arrested if there was any possibility. He alleged that everything took place on the behest of Imran Khan in the country during the last few days.

Strict security arrangements were made in and outside the IHC during the hearing of the cases of Imran Khan.

According to the lawyer of Imran Khan, the IHC granted bail to Imran Khan in all cases registered in Islamabad while the bail in the cases registered outside Islamabad would be applied.

The latest reports suggested that Imran Khan would be taken to Court No.4 from the Court 2 for bail in other cases registered in Lahore and rest of Punjab.

Zile-Shah murder case:

In another case related to murder of PTI worker Zile Shah, the IHC granted transit bail to former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangri granted bail to Imran Khan for next ten days in the said case against surety bond of Rs50,000.

Justice Jahangiri directed the police not to arrest Imran Khan in the Zile Shah murder case and ordered the authorities to ensure his security.
