The heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions in Karachi have wreaked havoc on flight operations at Jinnah International Airport. As a result, numerous flights, both domestic and international, have been disrupted, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated.
Javed Asghar Chaudhry, the spokesperson for Karachi Airport, provided some insights into the flight cancellations. One of the affected flights was PK306, operated by the national carrier, which was scheduled to depart from Karachi to Lahore. Passengers waiting eagerly to reach their destinations were left disappointed as their flight was suspended indefinitely.
Another flight affected by the severe weather was PK350, operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), which was bound for Peshawar. Passengers intending to travel to Peshawar were left with no choice but to find alternative arrangements or reschedule their flights.
Even international flights were not spared from the disruptive weather. Emirates Airline flight 609, slated to depart from Karachi to Dubai, was grounded due to the adverse conditions. This left passengers who had planned their journeys to Dubai in a state of uncertainty and confusion.
Similarly, flight PK370, destined for Islamabad, fell victim to the inclement weather. The suspension of this flight resulted in significant inconvenience for travelers hoping to reach the capital city.
The international route from Karachi Airport to Tehran, Iran, was also severely affected by the heavy rain and unfavorable weather. Passengers intending to travel to Tehran had their plans disrupted, further aggravating the situation.
To add to the list of affected flights, the flight operated by Syrian Airlines from Karachi to Islamabad also faced significant delays and disruptions due to the relentless rainfall and unfavorable weather conditions. This further compounded the woes of passengers eagerly awaiting their flights.
The torrential rains not only resulted in the suspension of flights but also created chaos and uncertainty at the airport. Passengers, already stressed by the challenges of travel during a pandemic, were left stranded with little information about the resumption of their flights. The lack of communication and updates from the airport authorities only added to their frustrations.
