The caretaker government has announced a rise in the prices of petrol and diesel. The price of petrol has gone up by Rs2.73, making it Rs275.62 per litre. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs8.37, reaching Rs287.33 per litre.
These new prices, recommended by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), came into effect at midnight on February 16 and will be in place until February 29.
In addition to this, the caretaker government has also approved a significant 67% increase in gas prices. This decision was made during a meeting led by caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had suggested this hike.

This increase will affect both protected and non-protected customers, with prices going up by Rs100 and Rs300 per MMBTU (million British thermal units) respectively. However, fixed charges for consumers will remain unchanged. But bulk gas consumers will see a substantial increase of Rs900 per MMBTU.
