UAE President and COAS General Asim spoke on the phone about their bilateral relations.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, recently spoke with General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, reaffirming his country’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s unity and stability on Monday.
During their conversation, they discussed improving cooperation and joint work in defense and military affairs between Abu Dhabi and Islamabad to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
General Asim Munir expressed gratitude towards Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, wishing the United Arab Emirates continued development, progress, and prosperity. While the Pakistani military has not released a statement regarding their discussion, it is a significant development given the political and economic crises Pakistan is currently facing due to the government’s ongoing tussle with the opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Pakistan is seeking the UAE’s support in securing the crucial International Monetary Fund (IMF) tranche to revive the Extended Fund Facility program. In March and April, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and China pledged to cover some of the funding deficit.
