Rawalpindi, Jun 02: Chief Minister (CM) Punjab, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, laid the foundation stone of the Gymkhana Club expansion project on Thursday night. Speaking at the event, the CM announced plans to replicate the successful Rawalpindi Gymkhana model in other cities of Punjab. He emphasized the importance of constructing self-help Gymkhana clubs in various cities, following the same successful model.
During his address, CM Mohsin Naqvi also revealed that the new fiscal year budget for Punjab would span four months. He further stated that funds would be allocated in the budget to commence work on the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project and the Kutchery Chowk flyover project. The CM assured attendees that the Rawalpindi Safe City project would also receive adequate funds in the budget.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chatha, highlighted the swift progress being made on the Potohar enclosure at the Gymkhana Club. He expressed confidence in completing the enclosure within a record timeframe. Chatha attributed the success of the project to the generous support of the citizens and business community of Rawalpindi. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 550 million.
The Potohar enclosure will feature several amenities, including a library, food halls, a coffee shop, a grand cinema, a table tennis lounge, a snooker room, and a children’s fun zone. Additionally, the facility will house a conference room, salons, an administrative wing, and a laundry area.
Provincial Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Azfar Ali Nasir, Advisor to the CM, Kunwar Dilshad, Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi, Syed Khurram Ali, Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Saif Anwar Jappa, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Hasan Waqar Cheema, Director of Development, Nazia Parveen, and Group Leader of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce Industry, Sohail Altaf, were among the notable figures present at the ceremony.
The expansion project of the Gymkhana Club in Rawalpindi marks a significant step towards promoting recreational and social activities in the region.
