Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz wore the police uniform again while attending the passing out parade of the province’s Elite Force. PML-N leaders and Punjab IGP Usman Anwar were with her at the event in Lahore.
Speaking at the parade in Lahore, CM Maryam said, “17,000 officers of the Elite Force are serving with unwavering commitment. It is a great responsibility to be part of the Elite Force. I am very happy to participate in this event.”
During the event, she reviewed the police company and honored successful cadets with awards. She added, “The credit goes to Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif for organizing the Elite Force.”
Late last month, Maryam Nawaz caused a stir when she attended a passing-out ceremony for women constables and traffic assistants in a Punjab police uniform. Her appearance caused quite a stir, with politicians from rival parties criticizing her decision to wear a police uniform.
Reflecting on her experience, she said on April 25, “After wearing the police uniform for the first time, I have realized that being a police officer or being sworn in as a CM is a very responsible job. In the chief minister’s office, we take decisions and you get them implemented.
