CM Gandapur Leads Lahore Rally in Solidarity with Suspended Punjab Assembly Members
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has launched a peaceful rally towards Lahore to show support for the 26 Punjab Assembly members recently suspended by the Punjab Assembly Speaker, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan.
Speaking to the media, CM Gandapur said that the CM Gandapur Lahore rally is a message of peace, love, and tolerance in response to what he described as “illegal, unconstitutional, and undemocratic actions.” He emphasized that the march is aimed at defending democratic values and the constitutional rights of elected representatives.
“Every step of this rally symbolizes the supremacy of the Constitution and the people’s right to representation,” Gandapur said, adding, “We are not spreading chaos but standing with our democratic members.”
The KP Chief Minister departed for Lahore via GT Road along with provincial ministers, assembly members, and a large number of PTI and SIC party workers, according to the CM’s office spokesperson.

Why Are Punjab Assembly Members Suspended?
On June 27, 2025, 26 opposition MPAs were suspended by Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan for allegedly causing disruption and damaging property during a Punjab Assembly session. The very next day, the speaker announced the decision to refer the matter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for possible disqualification of these suspended lawmakers.
Among the suspended members are Malik Fahad Masood, Muhammad Tanvir Aslam, Syed Riffat Mehmood, Yasir Mehmood Qureshi, Kalimullah Khan, Muhammad Ansar Iqbal, Ali Asif, Zulfiqar Ali, Ahmed Mujtaba Chaudhry, Shahid Javed, Muhammad Ismail, Khayal Ahmed, Shehbaz Ahmed, Tayyab Rashid, Imtiaz Mehmood, Ali Imtiaz, Rashid Tufail, Murtaza Iqbal, Khalid Zubair, Ijaz Shafi, Saima Kanwal, Muhammad Naeem, Sajjad Ahmed, Rana Aurangzeb, Shoaib Mir, and Usama Asghar Ali Gujjar.
The CM Gandapur Lahore rally is being viewed as a significant political move to challenge the suspensions and highlight what PTI and its allies describe as a suppression of opposition voices in Punjab’s legislature.
