Army To Be Deployed For The General Elections

The Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwarul Haq Kakar, led a meeting of the federal cabinet to discuss important issues regarding the upcoming elections. They unanimously agreed to deploy both the Army and Civil Armed Forces to ensure a secure electoral process. The Army will act as the Red Response Force in sensitive constituencies.

This decision follows a recommendation from the Federal Ministry of Interior, emphasizing the need for military assistance to maintain a safe environment for the elections. The approved plan involves deploying a significant contingent of 277,000 officers and personnel from the Pakistan Army, along with Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel to support security measures. These combined forces will serve as a quick response force in sensitive areas.

The last steps of preparations are underway for the general elections that are set for February 8. The Election Commission has frozen the funds of all local government departments to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.

In addition to election-related matters, the federal cabinet also discussed restructuring the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). However, a conclusive decision on this matter was not reached during the meeting. In response, the Prime Minister has taken proactive measures by establishing a committee to further consider the proposed reforms within the FBR, with the aim of enhancing organizational efficiency.
