Angelina Jolie was overwhelmed with emotion at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday after receiving an eight-minute standing ovation for the premiere of her biopic, Maria. The actress, known for her role in Changeling, was visibly touched and was seen wiping away tears as the audience at Sala Grande applauded her.
Before the screening, Jolie spoke about her preparation for the role during a press conference. She revealed that she dedicated nearly seven months to preparing for the demanding role.
Earlier in the day, Jolie had a heartfelt moment with a fan suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She knelt beside the bed-ridden supporter, placing her hand on his shoulder in a touching gesture.
Additionally, despite her ongoing high-profile divorce from Brad Pitt, Jolie made a notable red carpet appearance before the film’s official screening at the festival.
