LAHORE: Under the supervision of the Inspector General of Police, a large-scale operation has been launched in the katcha area that spans both sides of the Punjab and Sindh border. The police force engaged in a firefight with dacoits in the katcha area, resulting in injuries to a head constable.
Punjab Inspector General of Police, Dr Usman Anwer, reported that a contingent of 2,000 personnel has been deployed from the provincial force, with a total of 11,000 police officers participating in the operation.
Dr Anwer claimed that police checkpoints in the katcha area have been fully restored and that advances into the interior regions will begin today. He added that the Sindh police will also be commencing operations in their respective areas, and that the safe havens of criminals will be completely eradicated. Dr Anwer pledged that the rule of law will be upheld and anti-social elements will be permanently eliminated. The Bahawalpur Regional Police Officer, Rai Babar Saeed, and District Police Officer, Rizwan Umar Gondal, were present with the IGP during the briefing.
The operation in the katcha area, which spans both sides of the Punjab-Sindh border region, is a major effort to eliminate the longstanding issue of dacoits and criminal gangs in the area.
