LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced the Punjab Electric Bike Scheme 2026 to help students travel to colleges and universities more easily, safely, and at a lower cost.
Under the scheme, the Punjab government will provide 100,000 electric bikes to eligible students across the province.
According to the announcement, female students will receive electric bikes free of charge, while male students will be able to get bikes by paying a small down payment followed by interest-free monthly installments.
The initiative aims to improve student transportation while encouraging the use of environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
Who Can Apply?
Students must meet the following requirements to apply:
Be 18 years of age or older. (Some official guidelines also mention a maximum age of 35 years.)
Be enrolled as a regular student in a college or university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Have a valid Punjab domicile.
Hold a valid motorcycle driving licence or a learner’s driving permit.
Not own any registered motor vehicle.
Only one electric bike will be provided per family, even if more than one family member is eligible.
