A fire broke out at a chemical warehouse near Walika Chowrangi in Karachi’s SITE Area on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from police and fire brigade teams.
According to authorities, personnel from the SITE Area police station and firefighting department rushed to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the blaze. Firefighting operations began immediately in an effort to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby industrial units.
At least four fire brigades were deployed to the site, while law enforcement officials cordoned off the surrounding area to minimise risks and ensure public safety. Officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire. Authorities said further details would be shared once initial findings are available.
The incident comes just a day after another fire broke out in bushes on the campus of the University of Karachi. The blaze reportedly spread rapidly due to dry vegetation and strong winds.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan stated that firefighters managed to control the university-area fire after nearly two hours of intensive efforts using six fire tenders. The timely response prevented the flames from reaching nearby residential areas. No injuries were reported in that incident either.
Officials have urged industrial operators and educational institutions to strictly adhere to fire safety protocols, warning that dry weather conditions, combustible materials and strong winds can significantly escalate such emergencies if preventive measures are not in place.
