Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur declared a nationwide protest on Friday and announced a rally in Mianwali two days later. He emphasized that the movement led by his party, the PTI, would continue.
In a video message, Gandapur spoke a day after he could not attend the much-anticipated PTI rally in Lahore. He stated he would not apologize for his actions, asking, “Who should I apologize to and why?” He insisted that apologies should come from those who harmed Imran Khan.
Gandapur accused the Punjab government of spreading lies about access to the PTI rally scheduled for Saturday. He asserted that the people of Pakistan would not accept oppression. He urged citizens to prepare, declaring that their movement would not stop.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Lahore for attending the rally despite obstacles and thanked the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for responding to Imran Khan’s call.
The chief minister claimed the Punjab government was promoting a false narrative, stating that roads to the rally site were blocked with containers and fenced off for two kilometers.
Gandapur confirmed that the party would hold a public rally in Mianwali on Sunday, with more rallies planned in Rawalpindi and other cities. He reiterated that the movement would persist, saying, “The people are with us. People should be ready for the movement.”
He also mentioned that the federal and Punjab governments wanted him to apologize for a speech he gave at a public rally in Islamabad earlier this month. He responded defiantly, saying, “To whom and why should I apologize? Those who harmed Imran Khan should apologize.” He concluded by stating that they would not back down, regardless of the legal challenges they face.
