Five Policemen Charged for Brutal Killing of Rare Dog in Karachi

In a shocking and disturbing incident, a rare breed of dog named ‘Joji’ was brutally killed in Karachi, allegedly due to vengeance. The incident has led to the registration of a case against a policeman and four other individuals, as reported on Saturday.

The accused have been charged under Section 429 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ferozabad police station has provided a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) to the additional district and sessions judge in the east court. It has obtained a copy of the FIR, shedding light on the details of the heinous crime.

The accused individuals identified in the FIR are Mustafa, Waheed Kohati, Ali Sohni, Khalid Attock, and Constable Ali Hassan Shah. According to the plaintiff, Riaz Hussain, a heated argument had ensued between him and Ali and Mustafa regarding his two-year-old dog, which they had allegedly attempted to steal from him previously. It is claimed that the suspects then issued threats to the owner, suggesting that the dog’s life was at risk.

Riaz Hussain further alleged that Joji was stolen on February 10, and two days later, the lifeless body of the dog was discovered in a pile of trash at Hill Park. The plaintiff described the killing as brutal, stating that the perpetrators had inflicted severe burns on the pet’s chest.

The case has garnered attention and raised concerns among animal rights advocates and the general public. Animal cruelty is a serious offence, and this incident has sparked outrage in the community. The owner’s lawyer emphasized the potential consequences for the accused, highlighting that if found guilty, they could face imprisonment of up to five years along with a fine.
