ATC Grants Interim Bail to Aleema Khan in Jinnah House Attack Case

The anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has granted interim bail to Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, in connection with the Jinnah House attack and arson cases. The court accepted her bail application on Monday, providing her with interim bail until June 27.

Aleema Khan appeared in court personally, accompanied by her lawyer, Rana Mudassar Umar Advocate, to seek bail in the case related to the attack on Jinnah House at Police Station Sarwar Road. The petition argued that the police’s involvement in the case was illegal and being present at Jinnah House did not constitute a crime. Aleema Khan maintained that she had merely prevented people from entering Jinnah House.

Stating her willingness to cooperate with the investigation, Aleema Khan expressed concern about the possibility of arrest by the police and requested the court to grant her bail. The court granted her interim bail until June 27 and instructed the police to provide the case record. Additionally, Aleema Khan was ordered to submit a surety bond of one lakh rupees.

Case No 96/23 had been registered against Aleema Khan at Sarwar Road Police Station, leading her to file the bail application through her lawyer, Rana Mudasar Advocate.

This development comes as Aleema Khan seeks legal protection against potential arrest in the Jinnah House attack and arson cases. The granting of interim bail provides her with temporary relief until the next hearing.

The Jinnah House attack case has garnered significant attention, given Aleema Khan’s association with the prominent political figure, Imran Khan. The incident involved allegations of violence and property damage during a protest. The court’s decision to grant interim bail reflects the ongoing legal proceedings and the need for further investigation to determine the facts surrounding the case.

The bail decision by the ATC ensures that Aleema Khan will not be arrested by the police during the specified period. It allows her to continue her daily activities while cooperating with the investigation. The court’s requirement of a surety bond serves as a financial guarantee to ensure her presence during future court proceedings.
