Prohibited Activities in Karachi’s Jurisdiction:
Under the Section 144 notification, the public is prohibited from engaging in several activities within Karachi’s jurisdiction until the storm subsides. People are strictly prohibited from entering the beaches, and activities such as fishing, sailing, swimming, and bathing in the seas have been temporarily banned. These restrictions have been put in place to mitigate the potential risks and protect individuals from the severe weather conditions associated with the cyclonic storm.

PMD’s Warnings and Cyclone Updates:
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has been closely monitoring the cyclonic storm and has issued timely warnings to the relevant authorities. They have urged the concerned agencies to remain alert and prepared during the predicted period. According to the latest updates from the Met Office, the cyclone “Birparjoy” is currently located in the east-central Arabian Sea and is moving northeastward.:
As of the latest report, the cyclone’s position is Latitude 15.5°N and Longitude 66.3°E, approximately 1,040 kilometers south of Karachi, 1,020 kilometers south of Thatta, and 1,110 kilometers southeast of Ormara. It is important for the public to stay informed about the cyclone’s movement through official sources and adhere to the safety guidelines issued by the authorities.
Enforcement of Section 144 and Consequences of Violations:
The authorities have made it clear that any violations of the imposed orders will be dealt with strictly. The respective deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners, in coordination with the senior superintendent of police in the city, will be responsible for handling any breaches of the Section 144 orders. These factors contribute to the continued strengthening of the cyclone.
