In a recent development, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former chief minister of Punjab, has been taken into custody from his residence, Zahoor Palace, located in Lahore. The arrest was carried out by the anti-corruption unit, with the assistance of police personnel. Parvez Elahi is scheduled to appear before an anti-corruption court on the following day.
The PTI leader is being sought in connection with a corruption case involving an alleged misappropriation of development funds amounting to Rs70 million. These funds were designated for the Gujrat district. The arrest comes as a result of ongoing investigations into the matter.

Mir further stated that during the arrest, Parvez Elahi resisted and only opened the door of his vehicle when the personnel shattered the door glass.
Additionally, a spokesperson for the Punjab police has revealed that a case was registered against Parvez Elahi on April 29, apart from the one registered by the anti-corruption unit. The police will initiate their investigation once the anti-corruption unit completes its probe. The spokesperson further disclosed that Parvez Elahi is wanted by the police in a total of 13 cases, some of which incorporate sections related to terrorism.
