LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, the senior vice-president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), on Tuesday held a meeting with Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins to discuss various matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz expressed her gratitude to Australia for its humanitarian assistance provided to Pakistan during the COVID-19 pandemic. She acknowledged and appreciated the valuable support extended by Australia and emphasized the significance of the longstanding partnership between the two countries.
In particular, Maryam Nawaz highlighted Australia’s substantial role in the education of Pakistani students and emphasized the need for further collaboration in sectors such as education, culture, trade, and investment.
Responding to her remarks, Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins congratulated Maryam Nawaz on her appointment as a senior vice-president within the PML-N. He commended her on her new role and expressed optimism for a productive collaboration between Pakistan and Australia.
Maryam Nawaz stressed the potential of bilateral trade in strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and Australia. She emphasized that enhanced trade ties could contribute to building stronger bonds between the two nations.
Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz proposed exploring joint activities in sports, particularly cricket, as a means to foster a favorable environment for the youth and promote closer ties between Pakistan and Australia.
She also highlighted the vast opportunities for cooperation in the areas of trade and tourism, emphasizing the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.
