- Sheikh Rashid says, ‘I’m standing with Imran Khan,’
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, the leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML), declared his unwavering support for Imran Khan, the chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that he will stand by Khan as long as he continues to fight. In a video shared on his official Twitter account, the former minister expressed his steadfastness, claiming that he remains loyal to his friends and enemies until the end.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad revealed that the police have been conducting raids on the homes of his deceased mother, sisters, nephews, and brothers for the past 20 days. Although he was out of the country, he condemned the events that took place on May 9 and expressed his admiration for the Pakistan Army, considering them as great protectors of the nation.
Furthermore, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad alleged that three individuals have been hired to harm him. He asserted his right to self-defense and stated that he has corresponded with authentic government officials in Pakistan regarding this matter. The AML chief emphasized that there is a limit to oppression, expressing his determination to continue tweeting until his arrest, if necessary.

In another development, Malik Khurram Khan, a former member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) affiliated with the PTI, announced his departure from the party due to his deep distress over the events of May 9. During a press conference, Khurram expressed his prioritization of Pakistan and its national security institutions, stating that he cannot engage in politics while being associated with a party that opposes these institutions.
Khurram emphasized the sanctity of national security agencies and criticized the exploitation of these institutions for political gain. He reiterated his unwavering loyalty to Pakistan and the army, asserting his commitment to continue his political career for the betterment of his constituents.
Malik Khurram Khan is the latest PTI member to leave the party, joining a growing number of former PTI leaders who have disassociated themselves from the party following the May 9 incident. The total number of departures has now exceeded 25 individuals.
