Pakistan Customs officials foil weapons’ smuggle bid at Torkham border

Customs officials have successfully prevented an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of foreign-made weapons into Pakistan. The driver of the vehicle carrying the cache of arms has been arrested and is now in custody. The Deputy Collector of Customs, Appraisement, Hammad Ahmad, gave details of the operation to reporters, explaining that the Customs officials received a tip-off which led to the interception of the truck at Torkham Zero point.

According to Ahmad, the truck was transporting coal from Afghanistan to Pakistan, but upon inspection, Customs officials discovered 12-bore 88 Turkish and Russian-made rifles along with 600 rounds of ammunition. The Customs authorities immediately took control of the vehicle and its contents.

This successful operation by the Customs officials has prevented these illegal arms from being smuggled into Pakistan. The possession of such weapons would have posed a significant threat to the safety and security of the nation. The interception of the smuggled goods and the arrest of the driver responsible for the attempted smuggling demonstrate the government’s commitment to cracking down on illegal activities that pose a risk to the nation’s security.
The interception and seizure of the smuggled arms have sent a strong message to those involved in illegal arms trade that such activities will not be tolerated. The Customs authorities have been vigilant in their efforts to prevent such smuggling attempts and will continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any further illegal activities from taking place. The successful operation has undoubtedly made a significant contribution to the nation’s safety and security.
