Young Girl’s Body Abandoned at Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital, Reportedly Dead from Drug Overdose

In a disturbing incident, the lifeless body of a young girl, believed to have succumbed to drug abuse, was found abandoned at the emergency ward of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi on Saturday. The unidentified couple responsible for bringing her to the hospital slipped away from the crowded trauma centre, leaving behind the body. The authorities are now launching an investigation into this tragic event.

Investigation into the Abandoned Body Begins

According to the initial information provided by the police, the deceased girl was brought to the hospital by the Defense Housing Authority. The individuals who left her body at the hospital provided preliminary details but quickly disappeared before proper identification could be made. The woman claimed her name was “Sehrish,” while the deceased girl was known as “Ayesha.”

SSP South Asad Raza revealed that the girl was brought to the hospital at 7:30 am, already lifeless upon arrival. The cause of death is suspected to be a drug overdose, although further confirmation will come from the autopsy report. The police are also investigating if the girl had endured any form of torture prior to her death.

CCTV Footage Helps Identify the Vehicle and Individuals Involved

CCTV footage from the hospital has proven to be a valuable resource in identifying the culprits involved in this disturbing incident. The vehicle used to transport the deceased girl was captured on camera, allowing the authorities to trace its movements. The footage shows the vehicle arriving outside the hospital’s emergency room at 7:28 am. A man and a woman can be seen exiting the vehicle and transferring the body onto a gurney.

The couple engaged in conversation with the hospital staff in the emergency room before the woman was seen leaving at 07:42 am, seemingly engaged in a phone call. The hospital staff, upon her departure, inspected the body on the gurney. Through the use of CCTV footage, the vehicle, its driver, and the passengers have been identified.

Hospital authorities have managed to identify the deceased girl as 18 years old, and preliminary reports indicate that her husband is from Lahore. The autopsy has been conducted by Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya, who mentioned that the cause of death has not yet been determined. Samples have been collected for chemical analysis, and thus far, no signs of physical torture have been observed on the body. Fingerprinting of the deceased has also been carried out for identification purposes.

The police surgeon emphasized that a comprehensive postmortem report will be prepared based on the results of the chemical analysis, which will help establish the precise cause of the girl’s untimely death.

This tragic incident shocked the local community and raised concerns about the prevalence of drug abuse among young individuals. It highlights the urgent need for greater awareness, prevention, and support mechanisms to address substance abuse issues within society. Authorities must also enhance security measures and vigilance to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Police Surgeon Provides Updates on the Case

As the investigation unfolds, the police and hospital authorities are collaborating to gather more evidence and identify the individuals responsible for abandoning the girl’s body. The justice system must ensure that those involved are held accountable for their actions, providing closure to the grieving family and sending a strong message that such callous disregard for human life will not be tolerated.
