US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated on Wednesday that the United States desires a peaceful relationship between Pakistan and India. Miller emphasized the value the US places on its relationships with both countries and expressed a wish for a productive and peaceful rapport between them.
He added that the US would welcome talks between Pakistan and India, but the specifics of any dialogue, including its pace, scope, and nature, are decisions for the two nations to make. Responding to a question, Miller noted that in private discussions with Pakistani officials, the US has conveyed its expectation for Pakistan to respect the human rights of all its citizens.
