US thanks Pakistan for considering role in Gaza peace plan

The United States has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for considering a potential role in efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in Gaza, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference at the US State Department, Rubio confirmed that Pakistan, along with several other countries, has raised questions about participating in a proposed Gaza peace and stabilisation plan, including the possible deployment of troops.

Responding to a question on whether Pakistan had formally conveyed its willingness to send military personnel to Gaza, Rubio said discussions were still at an exploratory stage. However, he welcomed Pakistan’s engagement in the process.

“We are very thankful to Pakistan,” Rubio said, adding that Islamabad’s readiness to consider such a role reflected constructive international cooperation.

The US secretary of state explained that Pakistan and other interested countries were seeking clarification on certain operational, legal, and security-related aspects of the plan before making any formal commitments.

“Once those questions are addressed, we will be able to ask countries to formally offer their services for the Gaza peace plan,” he said.

Rubio expressed confidence that multiple nations would be acceptable to all parties involved in the conflict and would be prepared to contribute forces to a Gaza stabilisation mission aimed at maintaining peace and preventing further escalation.

The remarks come amid ongoing international efforts to explore post-conflict arrangements in Gaza, with Washington seeking support from regional and global partners to ensure long-term stability.

Pakistan has traditionally supported peace initiatives in conflict zones under international frameworks, and its role in Gaza peace plan discussions signals its continued engagement in diplomatic and humanitarian efforts at the global level.
