The United Kingdom has announced tough measures against employers found offering jobs through fraudulent visa sponsorship schemes, warning of severe penalties for violators.
According to British media reports, companies involved in providing employment on fake visas could face a ban on hiring workers from overseas. Authorities say the move comes amid a sharp rise in abuse of the immigration system.
A leading British newspaper reported that instances of bogus visa sponsorship have surged fivefold in recent months, prompting the government to tighten oversight and enforcement.
In a separate development, new immigration regulations will take effect from February 25, introducing stricter entry requirements for individuals holding dual nationality.
Under the updated rules, dual nationals may be refused entry into the UK if they do not possess a valid British passport. Even those with dual citizenship will need proper documentation to enter the country.
Media reports state that dual nationals must present either a British passport, a valid visa, or a Certificate of Entitlement. Those without a British passport will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before traveling.
The ETA will allow eligible individuals to stay in the UK for up to six months for purposes such as tourism or visiting family members.
Officials say the new measures are aimed at strengthening border controls, preventing misuse of visa systems, and ensuring compliance with immigration laws.
