UK PM rejects new Scottish leader’s call for independence vote

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak “looks forward to working” with new Scottish National Party leader Humza Yousaf but rejects his demands for another referendum on independence, Sunak’s spokesman said Monday.

The people of Scotland and the whole of the UK want politicians “to focus on the issues that matter most to them: reducing inflation, dealing with the cost of living, tackling (hospital) backlogs”, he told reporters.
