Two soldiers martyred, three terrorists gunned down in Tank IBO: ISPR

Three terrorists are shot dead and two troops are martyred in Tank IBO: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Two soldiers were martyred and three terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army. The terrorists had been actively involved in various attacks against security forces and innocent civilians.

The martyred soldiers, Naik Muhammad Atiq from Chakwal district and Naik Rajab Ali from Attock, displayed great bravery in their fight. The ISPR stated that the area is being thoroughly sanitized to eliminate any remaining terrorists.

The press release emphasized Pakistan’s determination to eradicate terrorism, and it highlighted that the sacrifices made by these courageous soldiers further strengthen the nation’s resolve.

In a separate incident on Saturday, security forces responded to an attack on one of their posts in Balochistan’s Zarghoon area, resulting in the killing of a terrorist and the martyrdom of three soldiers.

Terrorist activities have witnessed an increase in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terminated its ceasefire with the government in November.

During a recent press briefing, ISPR Director General Maj Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry revealed that 293 individuals were martyred and 521 were injured in 436 terrorist incidents over the past year. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw 192 casualties in 219 terror activities, Balochistan witnessed 80 deaths in 206 incidents, Punjab had 14 fatalities in five attacks, and Sindh experienced seven deaths in six terrorism-related incidents.

Maj Gen Chaudhry also provided statistics on counterterrorism operations, stating that 8,269 intelligence-based operations were conducted by the army and law enforcement agencies in the previous year. These operations resulted in the apprehension of 1,378 suspected terrorists and the killing of 157 others.

In the ongoing year, 137 security personnel were martyred, and 117 were injured in anti-terror operations, as per the DG ISPR’s statement.
