Trump Thinks Putin is Ready to Make a Deal
President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is now ready to make a deal, suggesting that the pressure of U.S. sanctions may have played a role in Moscow’s willingness to hold talks. Trump is scheduled to meet Putin in Alaska on Friday in what is being described as a crucial step toward potential peace in Ukraine. While the U.S. president expressed uncertainty about achieving an immediate ceasefire, he signaled a strong interest in brokering a broader peace agreement.
Speaking on Radio “The Brian Kilmeade Show,” Trump said, “He’s, he really, I believe now, he’s convinced that he’s going to make a deal, he’s going to make a deal. I think he’s going to, and we’re going to find out.” His comments came just hours after Putin acknowledged that the United States was making “sincere efforts” to end the Ukraine war, adding that Moscow and Washington might also agree on a nuclear arms deal as part of a wider push for peace.
Trump revealed that he has already considered three potential locations for a follow-up meeting that would include both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. However, he made it clear that a second meeting would depend entirely on the outcome of Friday’s discussions. “Depending on what happens with my meeting, I’m going to be calling up President Zelensky, and let’s get him over to wherever we’re going to meet,” Trump said.

The Alaska meeting is expected to be closely watched by global leaders, as any progress could reshape the dynamics of the Ukraine conflict and open the door to renewed U.S.-Russia cooperation on nuclear security and broader geopolitical stability.
