‘These are hushed judgments,’ says Zardari, questioning CJP’s suo motu powers

ISLAMABAD: Former President and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari while terming the elections’ judgments “hushed judgments” said that these decisions would lead Pakistan to more destruction.

“It is the hushed judgment; These are the hushed judgments. These judgments will cause chaos. Yes, we can request the PM for dialogue. They can come to the prime minister; not to me because I am nobody. It is the PM who is the only authority to hold dialogue with them,” said Zardari while addressing the joint session of the parliament on Monday.

He said the government did not need pre-requisites for the talks, raising a question, ““Why we are talking about dialogue, because the clashes do not suit to the government,”. He claimed that he knew that they were paying to their workers for this.

“I’m witness of the past 35 years. I’m witnessed that my father also signed on the document of the Constitution of 1973. But the dreams of Bhutto, Mufti Mahmood and others could not become true. He said they never used ‘Nizam-e-Mustafa’ in the politics,” .

He said perhaps there was no one in the house who underwent 14 years of solitary confinement except him.

“Bibi sahiba used to say that the some things you will take to your grave. Because we made Pakistan and we will protect it. We will not leave a broken Pakistan for the upcoming generations,” said the PPP co-Chairman.

He said they would not allow anyone to damage the Constitution, adding that the people who wanted to divide them would fail.

He stated that there had been one billion dollar reserves in India once in the history and the similar situation was witnessed in Korea and Japan. Japan, he said, turned out to be a default country in the history but they all recovered.

He stated that Pakistan would rise and they would make it rise.  He said he had threats from the TTP but they would go to all parts of the country.

He also claimed that Pakistan would never default.

Criticizing the CJP over alleged meeting with an officer, Zardari said that he knew the suo motu was taken against him.

“This is not for first time that they received notice from the court,” said Zardari, adding that Benazir Bhutto was jailed as she was picked up in the mid night but no suo motu notice was taken. He also said that his sister was arrested in the mid night but no suo motu notice was taken. He said they introduced NSF Awards, 18th amendment and raised voice for the rights of the people of Balochistan. “They have paid workers, they have paid journalists. They have their own trend. We know that they are getting money, because we did not hear anything that they had property or any other thing,” said the former President. Without mentioning Imran Khan, Zardari said he also admitted to have deposited the charity amount which he could not. Talking about Gwadar port, he said he approached the Chinese authorities after stay order vacated. He said he sought help of Babar—the then port minister and the Gwadar was finally taken over to Chinese.

“We are more aware than of you. We know who is who and what is what,” said the PPP Co-Chairman.

He said nothing would happen to the Constitution and they would continue to struggle for its supremacy.

Zardari said he had many things to share but he thought it was not appropriate to disclose these things at this forum.
