Suicide blast inside Khyber mosque leaves SHO martyred, confirms Police

In a tragic incident in Khyber district, a suicide blast inside a mosque in the Ali Masjid area resulted in the martyrdom of Additional Station House Officer (SHO) Adnan Afridi. The powerful blast caused significant damage, leaving the community in shock and grief.

According to the police, they had received information about the presence of suspicious individuals in the area, prompting them to take precautionary measures. When SHO Adnan Afridi noticed a suspicious person, he bravely approached the individual, but the suspect fled and sought refuge inside the mosque. Tragically, the suspect detonated an explosive device, claiming the lives of both himself and the courageous SHO.

As the news of the incident spread, rescue teams were promptly dispatched to the scene to provide immediate assistance. Law enforcement agencies swiftly cordoned off the area to ensure the safety of the public and conduct thorough investigations.

Khyber

This is not the first such incident in the region. Just last week, the area suffered another devastating attack when two suicide bombers targeted police personnel in Bara. In the aftermath of this attack, three policemen and a civilian were martyred. Prior to this, two other policemen had lost their lives in a shooting at a post in Peshawar.

The recent wave of violence has raised concerns about security and the presence of terrorists who pose a threat to innocent lives. In the Bara incident, the attackers had disguised themselves in police uniforms and used a vehicle to breach the Tehsil Offices Compound. They then resorted to violence, opening fire at the on-duty policemen before attempting to enter the premises through the main gate.

The government and security agencies must remain vigilant and continue to improve intelligence gathering and response mechanisms to prevent such attacks in the future. The safety and security of citizens must be the utmost priority, and measures must be taken to ensure that places of worship, like the mosque in Gharuba area, remain safe havens for people to practice their faith without fear.
