In an effort to spice up their repetitive diet of bland food while on duty, members of the Rapid Response Force, who are working to eliminate heavily armed and dangerous outlaws in rural Sindh, caught and grilled a cobra for consumption.
In a video that went viral on social media, the policemen are seen using their survival skills to catch, skin, and grill the snake on the metal rod of an AK-47 rifle. They seasoned the snake and squeezed lemon juice on it before cooking it over the coals. The policemen claim that they learned these survival skills during their training under the supervision of Pakistan’s special services group of the armed forces, and that snakes are a good source of protein.
These law enforcement officials are part of an operation to clear the densely vegetated riverine areas of Sindh of gangs that are involved in crimes such as kidnapping for ransom, murder, and armed robbery. The security officials, including police and paramilitary forces, are battling these gangs, who are equipped with more advanced weapons than the law enforcement personnel.
Couple of days ago, Punjab Inspector General of Police launched a large-scale operation in the katcha area that spans both sides of the Punjab and Sindh border. The police force engaged in a firefight with dacoits in the katcha area, resulting in injuries to a head constable.
IGP Dr Usman Anwer reported that a contingent of 2,000 personnel has been deployed from the provincial force, with a total of 11,000 police officers participating in the operation.
