Sindh announces Oxford University scholarships
The Sindh Education Department has announced scholarships for students from the province to pursue higher education at the University of Oxford, one of the world’s most prestigious institutions.
According to an official spokesperson, the Sindh Oxford University scholarships will be available for graduate, master’s, MPhil and PhD programmes, offering a significant opportunity for academically talented students from Sindh to study abroad.
The department clarified that applicants must hold a valid Sindh domicile along with a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) to be eligible for the scholarship programme. Shortlisted candidates will be finalised after a formal interview process conducted by the relevant authorities.
Officials said the scholarships are being offered in the context of the recent visit to Oxford University by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The visit focused on expanding international academic cooperation and creating opportunities for Sindh’s youth to access world-class education.
Under the eligibility criteria for the Bhutto Graduate Scholarships, applicants must be permanent residents of Sindh with a valid CNIC and Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) issued by the province. Candidates are also required to have completed at least an undergraduate degree from a recognised public or private university in Pakistan.
In addition, applicants must have secured an admission offer in a graduate, MPhil, master’s or doctoral programme at the University of Oxford before applying for the scholarship.
Education officials said the initiative reflects the Sindh government’s commitment to investing in human capital and empowering students through access to top-tier global institutions. The Sindh Oxford University scholarships are expected to attract strong interest from high-achieving students across the province.
