Shehbaz Sharif to Lead Pakistan’s Delegation at UNGA Session

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will lead Pakistan’s delegation to the high-level segment of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, which begins Monday in New York. He will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with senior ministers and top officials.

In his address to the General Assembly, the Prime Minister is expected to urge the international community to resolve the prolonged occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine. He will also draw attention to the grave humanitarian crisis in Gaza and call for decisive international action to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Shehbaz Sharif will use the global platform to highlight Pakistan’s perspective on regional security, climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development, issues that remain central to international peace and cooperation.

During the UNGA session, the Prime Minister will participate in several important engagements, including key UN Security Council discussions, the High-Level Meeting of the Global Development Initiative, and a Special High-Level Event on Climate Action. He will also join a meeting of select Islamic leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump to exchange views on pressing matters of regional and global security.

On the sidelines of the session, Shehbaz Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with a number of world leaders and senior UN officials to discuss issues of mutual interest and strengthen Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach. This year’s UNGA session is expected to provide Islamabad with a significant opportunity to raise its concerns on critical global challenges, while continuing to push for justice in Kashmir and Palestine.
