In a recent media interaction, superstar Shah Rukh Khan shed light on the story behind his purchase of the iconic Mannat bungalow. Khan revealed that owning the house was his dream, even though he initially couldn’t afford it. Nevertheless, he managed to acquire it and shared how this residence became the catalyst for his wife Gauri Khan’s career as an interior designer.
Reflecting on the purchase, Shah Rukh Khan explained, “When we bought Mannat, it was way beyond our means… coming from Delhi, we were used to living in bungalows. But in Mumbai, apartments are even more expensive. Somehow, after saving up some money, we managed to buy this bungalow.”
He continued, “It was beyond our means, but we still bought it. At that time, we didn’t have the funds to hire a professional designer. When we approached a designer, the quote they provided exceeded my salary.”
Turning to his wife, Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan revealed, “So, I asked Gauri to design it. That’s how the journey began. We built the house by gradually purchasing the necessary items. It took some time, but we did it.”
He also mentioned how this early opportunity allowed Gauri to learn and develop her skills in interior design at a young age. Khan expressed his gratitude, stating, “Now, it’s very convenient because I don’t have to seek out another designer. We can easily discuss our preferences. We aim for a clean and elegant aesthetic.”
On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up to play the lead role in Atlee’s upcoming film “Jawan.” Additionally, he is excited about his first collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani in the much-anticipated film “Dunki,” as reported by Pinkvilla.
