The kingdom aims to establish the event as the most sustainable and influential World Expo to date. With a theme focused on collective action for a better future, the unveiling took place during an official reception in Paris, attended by 179 member states of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
A Commitment to Carbon Neutrality and Sustainability:
Aligned with its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality, Saudi Arabia’s blueprint for the Expo encompasses a wide range of sustainable initiatives. The country intends to adhere to international standards of sustainability, incorporating practices such as urban afforestation, the utilization of treated water, and the implementation of new energy sources. Eng. Nouf Bint Majid al-Muneef, a member of the Expo blueprint team, expressed the goal of organizing an environmentally friendly exhibition that maintains a zero level of carbon emissions.
Powered by Clean Resources and Green Waste Management:
The Riyadh Expo 2030 site will rely on clean resources, primarily solar energy, to power its operations. The blueprint team is diligently developing high standards for resource efficiency and comprehensive strategies to enhance biodiversity, eliminate food waste, and ensure effective green waste management and recycling. By adopting these measures, the Expo will serve as a model for sustainable events and provide visitors with an exceptional experience.
A Design That Reflects Riyadh’s Culture and the Future:
The design of the exhibition takes inspiration from Riyadh’s ancient urban style, history, culture, and natural surroundings. With approximately 226 pavilions, countries will be situated side by side, symbolizing the Kingdom’s commitment to facilitating global cooperation. This arrangement will also ensure convenient and seamless movement for visitors between pavilions, public squares, cultural and innovation facilities, food services, as well as rest and waiting areas.
Unprecedented Flexibility and Interactivity:
The Riyadh Expo 2030 blueprint emphasizes the creation of a highly flexible and interactive experience for visitors. Efforts are underway to enhance visitors’ mobility within the site, promoting collaboration and sustainability. Furthermore, the Expo aims to achieve full and balanced participation, providing added value to all participating countries and delivering an unprecedented high-quality experience to over 40 million visitors. The exhibition will feature fully shaded corridors, paying homage to Riyadh’s architectural heritage, as well as a modern green oasis within the exhibition site’s tributary of Wadi As-Sulai.

The ongoing development of the airport ensures efficient transportation connections. Additionally, the extensive “Riyadh Metro” network, spanning across the city, will allow visitors to reach the exhibition site within minutes through one of the three designated entrances.
