ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari sacked former Punjab governor Sardar Latif Khosa as president of the People’s Lawyer Forum (PLF), the sources privy to the development said on Tuesday.
They said that Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari was given the additional charge of the post.
Jameel Soomoro, the political secretary of the PPP Chairman, issued the notification about removal of Mr. Khosa.
The sources claimed that the PPP leadership was angry over Khosa’s criticism on the coalition government. They were also angry over his remarks about the judicial matters of the PMl-N, they added.
A local private TV also reported the development.
Sardar Latif Khan Khosa criticized the coalition government regading the recent policies and decisions. He started criticizing the coalition government publicly when it tabled a Supreme Court bill in the National Assembly to clip the powers of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
He had termed the legislation “gagging the judiciary”.
Khosa had said that the timing for the bill was not right.
He was of the view that the opinion of the members who were not part of the bench could not be included in the decision.
Khosa also came down hard upon Maryam Nawaz—the senior vice-president of the PML-N—over her criticism on the top judiciary in her speeches and tweets.
