Saad Rizvi and Anas Rizvi Traced, Asked to Surrender: Police Sources
LAHORE: Law enforcement agencies have traced the whereabouts of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Hussain Rizvi and his younger brother Anas Rizvi, police sources told MegaNews.tv on Tuesday. The two have been warned to surrender to authorities immediately or face a swift arrest operation.
Saad Rizvi booked in terrorism cases
According to police officials, both brothers are wanted in terrorism and attempted murder cases registered in Rawat, Taxila, and Muridke following violent clashes between TLP workers and police earlier this week.
Sources within law enforcement confirmed that specialized teams successfully tracked the suspects’ hideouts, but officials are urging the Rizvi brothers to surrender voluntarily, stressing that cooperation would be in their “best interest.”
Unverified reports indicate that Saad Rizvi and Anas Rizvi may have sustained injuries, though police have not yet confirmed these claims. Authorities said that investigations are ongoing and vowed that both men “will be apprehended soon.”
Earlier, First Information Reports (FIRs) were filed against Saad Rizvi and several TLP members under 33 legal sections, including terrorism, robbery, and incitement to violence. Police reports allege that armed protesters attacked law enforcement officers, killing SHO Inspector Shahzad Jhumat and injuring several others during violent demonstrations.
In Rawat, police stated that TLP workers used firearms, petrol bombs, and spiked sticks to assault officers, snatched tear gas shells, and damaged police vehicles. Additional units have now been deployed in sensitive areas of Punjab to prevent further unrest.
