‘Ready to go to jail,’: Imran asks govt not to deploy large police contingents for him

LAHORE: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said he is mentally prepared to go to jail, urging the authorities not to spend huge public money by deploying huge contingents of police and rangers during his appearance before the court.

“if some has any warrants I have lawyers and I will go to jail by myself. I’m ready to go to jail. There is no need of huge deployment of huge contingents of law enforcers as if some big criminal is coming there. There is no case against me. But I’m mentally read. If you want to put me into jail I’m ready to go there,” said the PTI Chairman before his departure to Islamabad on Tuesday.

He said, “I’m also ready to sacrifice my own life even in their hands but my question is that whether these people are ready. The people who are in power and making money,”.

The PTI Chairman said that there was possibility that the small number of people would take out but there was also possibility that there could be situation like Sri Lanka. He made it clear that he would prefer to die rather than living a life of a slave.

In the video message, Imran Khan also responded to the ISPR about its yesterday statement. He reiterated his accusations against the senior military officer, saying that he attempted to kill him twice and was backing the move against him.

He said he did not need to tell a lie while responding to the ISPR statement.

The military’s media wing, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), issued a press release expressing significant concern over the baseless allegations made by the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against a senior serving military officer.

The ISPR stated that the trend of making such unfounded accusations for political gain has persisted for the past year, and it views it as a deliberate strategy aimed at spreading insinuations and sensational propaganda.

The military institution finds this trend both regrettable and unacceptable, and it urges the concerned political leader to pursue legal avenues if they genuinely believe in the validity of their claims. The ISPR emphasizes that making false accusations undermines the credibility and integrity of the military institution, and it is imperative to refrain from doing so.

The military institution expressed deep concern over these unsubstantiated allegations and asserts its right to take legal action against statements and propaganda that are patently false and driven by malicious intent. It calls on all political leaders to refrain from making baseless accusations against military and intelligence officials and to avoid using the military as a political tool.

The ISPR’s press release sends a clear message that the military will not tolerate any attempts to tarnish its reputation through false accusations and propaganda.

Earlier, Imran Khan directly asked a question from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Twitter.
