Senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, has underscored the importance of a transparent and unbiased trial in the Toshakhana case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. Speaking at a press conference, Ranjha called upon Imran Khan to appear before the court and face the charges leveled against him. The PML-N leader also raised concerns regarding the differential treatment received by Imran Khan compared to other political leaders who have faced trials.
Questioning Differential Treatment:
Ranjha questioned the apparent preferential treatment given to Imran Khan when compared to other political figures, including Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, who have faced trials in the past. He alleged that Imran Khan had been granted special privileges by the courts, creating an atmosphere of inequality and injustice within the judicial system.
Suspension of Criminal Proceedings:
Highlighting a specific instance, Ranjha pointed out that the Islamabad High Court had suspended criminal proceedings against Imran Khan in a case that should not have been exempted under the law. This decision has raised concerns among PML-N and other opposition parties, who believe that equal treatment under the law should be upheld regardless of one’s political affiliations or position.
Undisclosed Gifts from Toshakhana:
Ranjha further emphasized that the PTI Chairman had failed to disclose the gifts he retained from Toshakhana in his declarations. This omission, according to Ranjha, warrants the necessity of a fair and just trial to determine the extent of Imran Khan’s involvement in the Toshakhana case. Transparency and accountability are essential for maintaining public trust in the democratic process.

Call for Fair Trial:
The PML-N leader reiterated his demand for a fair and transparent trial, urging Imran Khan to present himself before the court and address the charges against him. Ranjha emphasized that a just trial would not only help establish the truth but also ensure that all political leaders are held to the same standards of accountability, fostering a sense of equality and fairness in the country’s judicial system.
Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha’s call for a transparent and unbiased trial in the Toshakhana case against Imran Khan highlights the need for equal treatment of political leaders under the law. The allegations of special privileges granted to Imran Khan have raised concerns among opposition parties, emphasizing the importance of upholding fairness and justice within the judicial system. The disclosure of gifts from Toshakhana and the failure to include them in declarations further underscore the necessity for a thorough investigation. Only through a transparent trial can the truth be established and public trust in the democratic process be maintained.
