Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the importance of exports and youth development in the upcoming development budget for 2023-24. The budget aims to promote import substitutions, expand export volumes, and encourage innovation across various sectors.

The prime minister’s directives and the inclusion of key projects that prioritize higher education, professional training, job creation, and the establishment of an endowment fund for youth development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Vision:

During a meeting held to review the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) proposals for the upcoming fiscal year 2023-24, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the inclusion of projects that would support import substitutions, expand export volumes, and drive innovation across various sectors. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of allocating special funds for youth welfare and development.

Youth Development and Education:

 PM Shehbaz Sharif directed the incorporation of projects focused on higher education, professional training, and job creation for the youth in the upcoming budget. He specifically highlighted the need to establish the Pakistan Endowment Fund to provide higher education opportunities to young individuals.

Additionally, the prime minister emphasized the inclusion of the laptop program in the PSDP, aiming to distribute free laptops to high-performing students, equipping them with essential technological skills. The endowment fund will also provide professional education, higher education, and skill-based training in the IT sector.

Merit-Based Scholarships and Transparency:

PM Shehbaz Sharif stressed the significance of prioritizing merit and transparency in providing scholarships and educational opportunities to the youth.

This approach ensures that deserving candidates receive the necessary support for their educational endeavors. By encouraging fair and transparent processes, the government aims to create an environment that nurtures talent and rewards hard work.

Continuation of Key Projects and Renewable Energy:

The prime minister directed the continuation of projects initiated under the Kissan Package, a government initiative for the agricultural sector. Additionally, he emphasized the inclusion of renewable energy projects in the development budget to promote sustainable and clean energy sources.

These initiatives align with the government’s commitment to fostering growth and sustainability in key sectors of the economy.

Stakeholder Involvement and Consultation:

 PM Shehbaz Sharif instructed the involvement of all relevant stakeholders and allied parties in the decision-making process for including development projects in the budget. Their input and proposals will be carefully considered to ensure inclusivity and comprehensive planning.

By engaging with stakeholders, the government aims to create a collaborative environment and gain valuable insights from experts and industry representatives.

Success of Previous Initiatives:

During the meeting, it was highlighted that the Prime Minister Kissan Package and Youth Empowerment Programme, which were included in the previous budget, have yielded positive results.

Over 60,000 youth have been provided internships in various government development projects, and wheat production has reached a 10-year record high. These achievements demonstrate the effectiveness of the government’s efforts in promoting youth empowerment and agricultural growth.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s focus on exports and youth development in the upcoming budget reflects the government’s commitment to economic growth and empowering the younger generation. By prioritizing higher education, job creation, and innovation, the budget aims to strengthen the economy and create a favorable environment for sustainable development in Pakistan.
